We follow our supply chain closely, checking in with our partners and vendors on a regular basis to understand their continued sustainability efforts.
Through our partner Our Forest, we have become certified climate positive by offsetting all the carbon emissions from shipping and by going one step further to plant a tree with every product sold. Their work creates jobs for people facing extreme poverty, restores and protects wildlife habitats, and improves the climate resiliency of our planet. We are also part of an amazing community, 1% for the Planet, which helps keep us accountable to our environmental commitment. Ensuring we donate a minimum of 1% of our profits to environmental organizations.
All of our products are designed and manufactured in the US. We sought out a factory that aligned closely with our values as a company. As a US based factory they must adhere to strict US guidelines, with strict health and safety standards, child labor protections, employee protections and environmental standards.
All of our fabrics are sourced from an Italian factory, Sensitive Fabrics, who is PEF certified. This is a Product Environmental Footprint Certification, monitoring carbon, water, and energy footprints. In addition, the fabric we’re using is 73% post-consumer recycled polyamide and 27% elastane. In addition, our fabric has been Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, and found to be free from harmful chemicals. You can check out their impact here!
We are also embarking on a life cycle assessment that will give us actual metrics for tracking our environmental and community impact. We cannot complete this process until our products have been in production for a minimum of 3-6 months.
We are working on a full life cycle assessment of our products, but until it is completed and we have detailed metrics, here’s what makes us sustainable: we work with ethical and sustainably certified factories, we utilize shipping with carbon offsets, we are working towards a B Corp certification, we are member of of 1% for the Planet, we plant a tree with every product sold through Our Forest, and we have picked communities in need to donate a portion of our revenue, and hope to donate unsold products to mothers in need.
We believe that sustainable fashion is the future of the fashion industry. Moving away from fast fashion, into positive fashion experiences for the consumer and planet earth. We are guests on Earth and need to take every opportunity to try and protect our planet. We have created a brand that values people and our planet over profit.
As we’ve built our brand we’ve seen the term sustainable fashion used in many different ways, but to us it’s about creating a product that has circularity to it. Our products can be used long term. They are made from post-consumer recycled materials. The factory where our products are made is known for treating its employees ethically, paying livable wages, and providing a safe working environment. It also means that we are working to reduce our overall carbon footprint, through our shipping and manufacturing processes. We are plastic free and use recycled and recyclable materials for all parts of our shipping process.
